In 1960, Baylor's yell leaders introduced the iconic "Bear Claw" hand signal and the "Sic ‘Em Bears" yell. After an initial mixed reaction, the hand signal and yell rose in popularity when Baylor hired football coach Grant Teaff and both came to symbolize pride in Baylor athletics.
